This ranks as perhaps one of the top 3 posters I have ever acquired and is the only known poster for the Beatles St. Louis performance in 1966. It has a most interesting provenance.
The original owner was a teenage girl from St. Louis and she and her girlfriend arrived several hours early to purchase tickets for the Beatles concert in St. Louis. Upon purchasing their tickets, the teenager noticed the poster hanging on the back wall and asked the person selling tickets if there was any chance she and her friend could get a poster for the event. He told them to write their name and address down and he would see what he could do.
Approximately two weeks later when she saw her girl friend at school, she said, "guess what I received in the mail"? The girl replied, "I got one too", however her friend's poster was for the Beatles Shea Stadium performance. Her friend disappointed she did not get a poster for the St. Louis performance they had tickets to attend, offered her poster to her friend.
Almost 50 years later both posters proved to be more than important as they are two of only three known full sheet Beatles posters to exist - two from New York and one from St. Louis.
I feel more than fortunate to have acquired this poster as I originally saw it at a Beatles Fest in Las Vegas in 2007 and fell in love with it. As I was traveling at the time I missed the opportunity to acquire it and figured I would never see it again. The poster was shipped overseas to a Beatles collector and by fate I was able to strike a deal on the poster and is now back in the U.S. as part of the Vintage Concert Poster collection.
